WINTER 2011 Isea&iI 9newsandviewsFORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW From the 28 October to 1 November, superyachts rubbed shoulders with fast productionboats at the 51st Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show - the world's largest yachtshow. This year CNI showcased 18 superyachts from its sales and charter fleet, including the43.3m (142') Incentive from Palmer Johnson, the 43.3m (142') Pure Bliss, also built by PalmerJohnson, the 40.23m (132') Life's Finest II from Northcoast Yachts, and the 28m (92') RayburnCustom Yacht Kathleen. CNI hosted clients throughout the show with refreshments at theVIP café and terrace, as well as a private car service. Prior to the show, CNI put on an annualcaptains' appreciation dinner at the Johnny V restaurant. More than 100 captains and theirpartners attended the invitation-only event for cocktails, dinner and live music. The CNIevening was sponsored by Advance Mechanical, Chartis Insurance, Global Marine Traveland the Wine Warehouse. Newport BucketA fleet of 16 yachts gathered in Newport betweenthe 10 and 12 September for the annual NewportBucket - the somewhat irreverent but much-loved annual regatta for large sailing yachts. Assponsors of the event, CNI brokers and clientswere there to cheer on the 30.5m (100') Virago,which was racing in the Bucket. The Swan 100Smodel is a fabulous high-performance yacht thatjoined the CNI charter fleet earlier this year.Sleeping six guests in three cabins, she is availablein the Caribbean this winter. Sailing yachtsAzzura, Hanuman, Meteor and White Wings wonvarious fleet races throughout the weekend.St Barths Bucket If you missed September's Newport Bucket,rest assured you can still join in the fun if youtravel further south, as a sister event in StBarths is held annually at the end of March.The sailing regatta is one of a kind, gatheringsailing superyacht owners and their yachtsin St Barths' Gustavia Harbor for a week ofpure fun. As the sleepy French island comesto life, the quay, which is usually filled withmotoryachts, is a sea of sailing vessels. In2011 the event is welcoming several yachtsfrom the CNI charter fleet, including the58m (190'5) Ethereal, the 56m (184')Panthalassa, the 54m (177') Parsifal III, the45m (148'7) Helios, and the 35m (114'8)Sojana. The appointment of Matt Emerson asPresident of Camper & Nicholsons USA Inc is just the beginning offurther expansion planned for the US. Matt is a familiar face inyachting having notched up several years in the industry. Prior tojoining Camper & Nicholsons USA as head of the CharterMarketing Division, Matt successfully oversaw the developmentof Surfside 3 Marina at Chelsea Piers in New York, and before thathe managed the daily operations of North Cove Yacht Harbor inNew York. As President of Camper & Nicholsons USA Inc, Matt isresponsible for the US-based operations of CNI and is developingbusiness for North America. Jillian Montgomery, CEO of CNI,comments, "We are delighted that someone with Matt'sknowledge has chosen to take on the US side of the business. Hisexperience and understanding of the market will be invaluable tothe continued growth of our company."Expanding the US side of the business further, CNI is delighted toannounce that D J Kiernan has joined the company as Director ofthe USA Charter Marketing Division. Responsible for a team of four,D J will report to Matt Emerson. D J has worked in the yachtingindustry for a number of years, both in marketing and managementpositions. His latest role saw him successfully setting up andmanaging the Feadship Charter Division.On the other side of the Atlantic, the Monaco sales team welcomesJordan Waugh to its Sales Brokerage Division. After teaching sailingin both the US and Canada, racing with the Monaco Yacht Club, andcrewing on a superyacht, Jordan returned to Monaco to train as abroker. After a few years working with a number of small agencies,he joined CNI and has spent the last three years working alongsidesenior broker Jean Marie Recamier in the Antibes office. Jordan joinsa team of three sales brokers in CNI's Monaco office. Expanding theEuropean brokerage divisions further, the charter team welcomesMolly Browne as a charter broker. Molly joined CNI in 2006 and hasspent the last four years working in the charter department.
