Now MPI President and CEOBruce MacMillan finally claims to haveproved at least part of the ROI meetingtheory through a pilot analysis of MPI'srecent World Education Congress.Coming from MPI, they are the kind ofROI results the industry can use toconvince politicians and budget holders ofthe value of meetings to the bottom line.We ought to remember also that creativethinking needn't cost a thing and cangenerate great value. Slovenia Convention Bureau's efforts andskill raised its local Conventa meetingsindustry exhibition to the level of a SouthEast Europe key industry event of trulyregional significance. Commited Conventaindividuals put together a strong coalitionwith the politicians and buyers,understanding the shared vested interest.Some imaginative and sustainabledesigns on the show floor helped no end.Galvanising a local supply chain to hosta major industry event for your industrypeers is hard. Keeping the airlines,politicians and hotels onside for the next edition of Conventa will be the next challenge.If you are hosted or hosting atInternational Confex in London this month;the recent Meetings Africa inJohannesburg, or are planning a trip toAbu Dhabi for Reed's GIBTM, I encourageyou to share your experiences with thewider industry.
