After working in Hong Kong for a while as an event planner I returned to the UK and moved into specialist events and venues recruitment.What can suppliers like you do to be more appealing to organisers?There is a wide variety of areas we should focus on but they ultimately boil down to just a few simple things - we need to be fl exible in our approach, understand client's ROI and above all listen to what clients want. What is the most positive thing for you about the event industry ?I love the collaboration of groups such as the London City Selection, MPI, Barbican Arts and Commercial arms. By working together we achieve far more and it is ultimately the support of each individual that leads to the success of any event. You also meet people who are really passionate about their job.What changes do you expect to see over the next two years?Technology will transform the outlook of the industry. Things like 3D and virtual events will continue to help face to face events develop, allowing people to engage more effectively. The next generation of social media tools will also make a big impact. What frustrates you about the industry?Industry associations need to be more collaborative, working together on focused issues. Without this sort of attitude we appear unprofessional, which in turn means we are taken less seriously by other sectors. What has been your most successful personal achievement ?Beating cervical cancer last year.Valerie Bassignyhas joined TFI Meeting Point, the association conference team withinthe TFI Group, as its new Senior Account Director. The Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hospitality company, has appointed Nicholas Clayton as Chief Operating Offi cer. Stoneleigh Park has strengthened its catering team with a new Catering Manager, Sue Hargreaves. Seasoned Events, part of the Crown Group, has promoted Terry Korobin to the role of Projects and Compliance Manager. Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel has appointed Sascha Lenz as Director of Food and Beverage. Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has made two new appointments to its senior management team: Debbie Milburn joins the group as Head of Marketing and Stephen Dodman as Revenue Director. The Twickenham Experience strengthens its sales team with the appointment of Lauren Goodwin as Account Manager.
