back page46 www.exhibitionnews.co.ukLAST WORDShow-off governments, big boats, cheesy innovations and bows and arrows are among the wackiest exhibitions we've found this monthFor people who prefer a more leisurely approach to watery pursuits, The Royal Yachting association Dinghy Show 2012 will sail into alexandra palace in London in March. The show's main stage will offer presentations including racing rules and tactics on driving and towing. Over in the coaching area, fans can learn about basic rig tuning, setting the spinnaker, trapezing, improving your core stability, the portsmouth yardstick scheme and wet and dry suit repairs. We envisage the show staying afloat for quite some time yet.Crowd and car control in DelhiA Delhi car show has attracted criticism for providing unlimited free passes to visitors, sparking traffic problems in the city. Indian Trade Promotions Organisation (ITPO) raised an accusing finger at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for causing congestion chaos. "That is something that you must question the CII on because there is absolutely no guest from the part of the government of India or the ITPO," ITPO chairperson and managing director, Rita Menon said. In response, CII said exhibitors worsened the situation during 'Media Days' as they distributed free passes without taking into account crowd management."We give out thousands of passes to the exhibitors," said CII Auto Expo steering committee chairman Rajive Kaul."When we give these passes, then we don't control it, they control it. We don't know who they are giving it to or when they are giving it to," Kaul added.Members of the public in Dubai were invited to see just how good their government is at a recent exhibition. The latest technologies and services of 25 government departments and institutions were on show at the Dubai government achievements expo 2011 at World Trade centre in December.Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and chairman of Dubai executive council, opened the two-day expo. With this year's theme of "Local government and global achievements', the expo showcased the diverse achievements of the Dubai government. These included green buildings, forestry, agriculture, laboratory tests, jewellery, toys and food control.Somehow, we can't see this catching on in the Uk, with David cameron and Nick clegg leading dignitaries round the QeII centre. "and this is the Treasury stand dealing with our Mps' expenses." BACK SLAPPINGMeanwhile, a traffic police officer hit out at the suitability of Pragati Maidan for large events following huge traffic jams. Commissioner Satyendra Garg said traffic management was to blame for much of the congestion. "There can be no excuses for traffic congestion, it was a bad show on our part. We could have managed the difficult situation much better," he said.Perhaps organisers should put this boast to the test next time? It's all about the cheeseEN is always on the lookout for weird and wonderful exhibitions from across the globe. So we were glad to see the International Cheese Technology Expo returning to Milwaukee this year. The event, at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 10-12, is billed as the world's largest gathering devoted solely to the multi-billion dollar market for cheese and related dairy products. Visitors to the event can enjoy a seminar on 'Cheese.today's challenges and Wannabe William Tells grabbed their bows and arrows and headed to the 2012 archery Trade Show, in Ohio last month. The event at the greater columbus (Ohio) convention center featured more than 500 exhibitors, and 18,500sqm of product displays and shooting lanes.exhibitors took up all 73 of the show's available shooting lanes, which presumably hit the bullseye with visitors.TARGET PRACTICEROyAL yAChTINGtomorrow's opportunities', which hopes to deal with the challenges of yeasts and moulds. The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy will also focus on opportunities including the impact of the new school lunch program on cheese, followed by its new report on the Future of Dairy and Cheese Research. There will also be a chance to view a selection of cheeses and cheesemakers from the 29th World Championship Cheese Contest. We hope the organisers don't overly milk their promotional tag.Celebrity spot:Model, broadcaster and TV reality star Tamara ecclestone added a touch of glamour when she opened the 2012 London boat Show at excel London
