The site has 10,000sqm of exhibition spaceand is looking to double it. The proposeddevelopment also features a shoppingvillage, a business park and two hotels."There are no traffic problems or parkingproblems," said RBWS CEO Jane Guise. "Weare hoping our new halls will be moresophisticated and we will be able to get into thetrade market."The plans had been in the works for nineyears. QD postponesFishing ExpoScottish organiser QD Events haspostponed its annual Fishing Expo butstressed plans to return in 2012 with abigger, better event. The show was due tobe held at the Scottish Exhibition andConference Centre (SECC) from 24 to 26March. The decision comes after the launchof a rival fishing show in Aberdeen in June.The Scottish Skipper Expo will be run byMara Media, owners of theIrish Skipperpublication and the Irish Skipper Expo. QDEvents MD Fran McIntyre attributed itsdecision to industry demand for one, high-profile event serving the whole market. According to the organiser,the show's focus on content accounts forthe rise, with 4,270 unique visitorsattending from 4 and 5 March. The showfilled 7,300sqm, up one-quarter on 2010. Itwill return to The NEC in March 2012.Failure to launchJohnson Press (JP) Events' Time of Your Lifeexhibition has been cancelled three monthsafter being postponed. The show was dueto run in December at the Yorkshire EventCentre but forced to postpone to April dueto heavy snow conditions.Emap's Best replacementEmap Connect has cancelled its BuiltEnvironment Solutions and Technology (BEST),Interbuild Onsite and Glassex exhibitions butflagged plans for a replacement constructionshow in 2012. BEST was announced in 2010 as thereplacement brand for the 105-year oldInterbuild construction exhibition, which Emapfully-acquired in 2004. BEST was runalongside the Interbuild Onsite and Glassexshows as well as the launch InfrastructureShow at The NEC last October. "While many leading companies hadcommitted to the BEST proposition in 2011,the economic downturn and unprecedentedchallenges facing the industry meant Emapcould not guarantee the scale or scope ofevent that customers demand and expect," thecompany said in a statement on the BESTshow website. Emap will continue to run The InfrastructureShow at The NEC from 16 to 19 Octoberalongside InstallerLive, a plumbing, heating andrenewables event Emap acquired last year andformerly run at Ricoh Arena. The organiser said it will also launch a new anddifferent kind of construction show to replaceInterbuild Onsite and Glassex in 2012, but notdetails have yet been announced. Emap Built Environment MD Richard Bakersaid it was market testing new event formats andhoped to make an announcement shortly.Social conscience shinesthrough new exhibitionsTwo organisers have tapped into socialresponsibility with new exhibition launches.UBM expanded its free-to-exhibit corporatesocial responsibility (CSR) brand with theLondon launch of the Responsible PartnershipsExhibition in March. Running at the BusinessDesign Centre, the show aimed to bringcharities and businesses together to facilitatepartnerships for CSR programmes. UBM organised the event in partnership withthe Prince of Wales' Charity Business in theCommunity, which also ran the paid-forResponsible Business Convention alongsidethe show.Abroad, Centaur Exhibitions is also launchingAidEx 2011 to help the global humanitarian aidcommunity. The exhibition, conference andworkshops will be held from 19 to 20 Octoberin Brussels in Belgium. Centaur's aim is to help buyers fromgovernmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental agencies engage directly withessential equipment and services suppliers fordisaster relief and longer-term humanitarian aid.
