exhibition news news10 maY 2011 Live expects an eagle in 2011Brand Events will introduce an additional interactive theatre and golfing academy to its second annual Golf Live event in May.Event director James Goode told EN a key element of Golf Live this year will be a driving range theatre, where visitors can engage with brand manufacturers, trial new equipment and access golf coaches and champions. This will sit alongside existing professional masterclass theatres, an All Star Challenge, three-hole celebrity competition, putting range and bunker complex. Golf Live launched in 2010 and aims to give golfing amateurs the chance to engage with professionals and celebrities."Unlike a traditional exhibition, people who come to our show come for a whole day's experience," Goode said. Brand Events has also partnered with the Golf Foundation to launch a beginners' academy offering free golfing lessons to under-16s. Goode expected to attract 12,000-15,000 visitors this year, up from 11,000 in 2010, using Start-ups given free spaceFollowing the Government's launch of the StartUp Britain! Campaign in March, The Brighton and Hove Business Show (BHBS) is offering fledgling local companies free space on the show floor.According to organiser Michaela Walker, the Startup Brighton! initiative gives 12 budding businesses a 'launchpad' through their own exhibition stand space at a 'popular and growing business event'. The Brighton and Hove Business Show operates in April and October and features VIPs, MPs and celebrity business guests. "More than half of the visitors are Comic Con's ticket spikeThe organiser of MCM Expo London Comic Con has claimed advanced ticket sales for its late May show have hit a record-high of 15,000. The 10-year old show will take place at Excel London. MCM Expo expects visitors to hit 60,000, up 10,000 from its last October event and from 41,000 recorded in May 2010. According to MCM Expo co-organiser Bryan Cooney, one explanation for the registration jump is its media partnership with games content site, GameSpot UK.Marketing Week sees growth Marketing Week Live at London Olympia in June is expecting an 18 per cent increase in exhibitors. The event encompasses four shows: Data Marketing Show, Insight Show, In-Store Show and the Online Marketing Show and is organised by Centaur Exhibitions. The organiser is expanding floor space by 15 per cent to fit in a new Marketing Week Live Village, dedicated Ogilvy Ideas shop, PR centre and showcase of the Creative Review Awards winners. The Online Marketing Show also includes a new Media Age Strategy Theatre, search affiliate, presentation area and mobile and social media apps content, while In-Store Show has gained a green retail showcase and the Insights Show an insights lab.Ticket tiering drives Vitality VOS Media saw steady numbers at this year's Vitality Show due partly to new ticket packages and reduced complimentary tickets. The organiser cutback complimentary tickets to improve the quality of visitors as well as discourage "parasitic" ticket touts from re-selling them, VOS MD Damian Norman said. Vitality attracted an unaudited 31,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors to Earls Court 2 in March. According to Norman, VOS sold 900 each of the new VIP Pamper Experience and VIP Taste Experience ticket package deals.campaigns across the Sky Sports channel as well as broader golf magazine partnerships. The second Golf Live relocates from Stoke Park Club to the London Golf Club.Goode said 125 hand-picked exhibitors are confirmed and 150 are expected by May."Exhibitors have to be relevant to our audience type, otherwise the experience doesn't work," he added.directors and three-quarters of the total visitors run their own companies," Walker told EN. Brighton and Hove, the 16th largest city in the UK, has a reputation for being home to a high number of highly educated, graduate-level professionals."Naturally, this lends itself to have one of the highest business start-up rates seen over a period of years, being estimated as the sixth start-up city in the UK," said Walker. The organiser has also arranged for the BBC TV's Dragons' Den film production team to visit in April to capture the entrepreneurial talent on briefsRetail Business Technology Expo launch "a success"The launch edition of the Retail Business Technology Expo drew 4,200 visitors to Earls Court. Running from 16 to 17 March and organised by Legend Exhibitions, the show aimed to fill a gap left by Emap's cancelled Retail Solutions expo and the Retail Business Show organised by the defunct Retail Events. Next year, event director Nick Field hopes to see significant expansion in terms of net space and visitor numbers."We were lucky to have Hewlett Packard and Microsoft taking quite big stands, but we know many more big companies came along as visitors and will be exhibitors next year," he told EN. The show also included the Cards and Payments Solutions exhibition.
