Clarion's northern swapClarion Events will relocate its Caravan and Motorhome Show from Manchester Central to the new EventCity at Trafford Park from 2012. Show director Sam North claimed the move will allow it to grow the show by another 50 per cent due to the venue's size, free parking options and consumer retail traffic. As previously reported in EN, Clarion claimed attendance at the 2011 Caravan and Motorhome Show increased by 25 per cent year-on-year while its footprint grew by 40 per cent. The deal represents the first Clarion show to move into EventCity. The 2012 Caravan and Motorhome Show takes place from 19 to 22 January, and the organiser has committed to a three-year tenancy through to 2014. "With the full support of the market we are looking forward to making a step change to this already successful show," North continued. "Adding a far greater choice of caravans, motorhomes, holiday homes and accessories for our core visitors to the new camping content, and being alongside The Trafford Centre to attract the newcomers, is sure to create a brand new and fantastic opportunity for all." Manchester Central sales and marketing director Paula Lorimer said the show had enjoyed a long partnership with the Caravan and Motorhome Show. "Understandably, over this period the dynamics of the caravan market have changed and the product mix at Manchester Central has also broadened," she said. "Everyone at Manchester Central is pleased to see the show remain in Manchester."The news came as Clarion finalised its purchase of The Guild of Fine Foods' share in their joint venture project, Scotland's Speciality Fair. The show has been owned by both parties for the past four years and co-managed by the Guild in conjunction with Springboard Events. Springboard will continue running the next Speciality Show at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre from 22 to 24 January 2012. In a statement, Springboard attributed the buyout to the Guild's plans to commit more time and resources to other interests across the UK speciality food and drink market. The Speciality Food Show will remain co-located with Clarion's Scotland Trade.VCM Events looks for next winnerVCM Events is on the hunt for new exhibition organisers to partner with in a bid to fill the gap left by a series of show sales.
