That the stand was one of the few to offer free food and wine was perhaps no coincidence.Alpaca-ing them in at The NECFur sure, (sic) The NEC will resemble the heights of the Andes at a show next year. The British Alpaca Futurity, a show dedicated to alpaca breeders, owners and enthusiasts, is moving from nearby Stoneleigh Park to The NEC for its 2012 annual event. The woolly beasts, similar to llamas only smaller, will be roaming around the wilds of Birmingham on 16 and 17 March.Monty Python famously performed a flamenco-themed tribute to the alpaca's larger furry cousin but these animals are farmed for their fine fleece. The NEC event will feature a selection of the best British-bred animals USa Today has certainly been keeping its eyes peeled at trade shows recently. The publication has produced a revealing online article on the use of female models at the aftermarket product show SeMa, one of the biggest automotive trade events in the world. Not exactly hard-hitting news, you may say. but eN was tempted to read on.The site reported that the Las Vegas trade show used models, more affectionately known as 'booth babes', to draw in the overwhelmingly male showgoers. This year, not one male model was spotted. even a rust remover maker used a babe to hawk its product. Journalism is a tough job but someone's gotta do it.BOOTh BABeSalong with an international fleece competition, with more than 1,000 visitors expected.Exhibitors will also demonstrate the range of uses for alpaca wool (there are apparently many) and there will be stands from equipment and machinery providers and clothing producers. The who's who at ComicCon The UK's biggest festival of pop culture, London MCM Expo Comic Con, returned to the capital in October with a host of celebrities. Kai Owen and Eve Myles (pictured) from TV's Torchwood and Tyler Posey from Teen Wolf were at Excel London for the show, which featured major movie studios, top comic creators, a dedicated games zone and hundreds of merchandise stands. A record 62,487 visitors descended on the event. What caught EN's eye however were the contestants in the second annual There was no need for anyone to dig themselves out of a hole at one of the largest exhibitions of its kind held in the southern hemisphere recently. The australasian Society for Trenchless Technology reported that its No-Dig Down Under 2011 conference and exhibition attracted more than 700 trade-pass attendees to brisbane in October. Sessions channelled information on a range of topics including tunneling and new underground solutions. In all, 67 exhibitors were on show.after attendees finished drilling down into the industry's key issues, they mounted a Hawaiian-themed cruise along the brisbane River, with guests donning Hawaiian shirts, festively coloured leis and grass skirts. Some of the braver attendees showcased their surfing abilities on a machine-operated surf-board. Next year's event, 2012 Trenchless Live will be held on 23?24 October in the Royal Melbourne Show grounds. eN hopes there isn't a last-ditch scramble for tickets.TRench pReSSeL MARiAchiEuroCosplay Championships finals, who dressed up in leather, feather, various metals, masks and PVC to emulate their favourite characters from films, comics and books and secure global kudos for it. Patriotic readers miffed at the European Union's high and mighty treatment of our PM on matters of economy will be pleased to know the UK's fancy dress representative took top honours against 23 European nations by appearing as Chamberlain from Jim Henson's 1982 movie Dark Crystal. Take that, Nicolas Sarkozy.Celebrity spot:Singer, actress and TV host Danni Minogue was one of several celebrities on the floor at this year's World Travel MarketCMYCMMYCYCMYK
