A platform in the country's high- growth market is much sought- after by international businesses looking to expand, because despite the global recession India still managed to record GDP growth of more than six per cent. But the truth is that in 25 years the Indian exhibition market is still underperforming. And while the country has been home to many international organisers in the past, we're still seeing the withdrawal of key players. This month we ask those on the ground what they feel needs to be done to make India a worthwhile gamble for international organisers. It's results time for the big boys, and we've seen some mixed results from UBM, Reed and Informa, and it seems exposure to the emerging markets is one area that has really pulled organisers through the recession. More hope to follow in their footsteps. Let's hope this fact sets the wheels of change turning in India.
