After signing the agreement at a ceremony, chairman of the privatisation committee said the Maldives government would also go to the Dutch company to develop floating housing units. Floating CC for Maldives Hong Kong - B2B international media group Tarsus, which posted a 36 per cent rise on full- year adjusted pre tax profit in April, has appointed former UBM Asia CEO Gary Marshall to head up its operation in Asia. Marshall, who joins the board as CEO Asia on 31 March, spent 11 years at United Business Media where for six years he was CEO of their Asian B2B business. Turkey - Exhibition hall and convention centre management company, SMG Europe, has won the contract to manage the new ORA multicentre currently being being built in Istanbul. The project is for a mixed- use complex in the Bayrampasa district of Istanbul that includes a convention centre, an arena, a theme park, two hotels and an outlet mall with a fitness centre and movie theatre complex. The ORA convention centre will offer 10,500sqm of event space for small and mid- scale Canada - The BC Pavilion Corporation faces almost CA$ 40m in accumulated deficit from costs and expenses incurred by their multiple large- scale projects. The company predicts the deficit will follow costs and revenue lost from the opening of the new West Building at the Vancouver Convention Centre and the ongoing roof replacement at BC Place Stadium, both venues owned by the Canadian corporation. The roof replacement project will cost an estimated CA$ 565m, and erecting temporary playing facilities for the BC Lions and Vancouver Whitecaps while renovating the BC Place Stadium will contribute CA$ 23m to the foreseen deficit. New venue delight for Turkish multicentre Germany- A new trade show on gem and jewellery industry technology will be launching in Germany. Gemtec hopes to draw goldsmiths, jewellers and jewellery producers who are looking to explore a variety of technological innovations. Event organiser Intergem Messe designed the public show, to be held at Messe Idar- Oberstein on 28 - 30 May, as a " workshop fair", giving visitors and opportunity to test the technology for themselves. Jewellery tech show launch South Africa - After four years at the helm as CEO, Miller Matola will be leaving the International Convention Centre Durban ( ICCD) at the end of the current financial year. Matola will be joining the International Marketing Council ( IMC) as CEO. " Leaving the ICCD was not something I anticipated," says Matola. " But I could not decline the opportunity to make a contribution to nation branding." ICC Durban CEO moves on trade fairs and exhibitions, including a 900sqm foyer.
