Preview| Exhibition World 28| May 2010| ' Edutainment' IMEX 2010 will also present an extensive seminar and workshop programme in both English and German. The choice of 17 German language seminars will include ' Change management in associations'; detailed discussions about the growing role of corporate social responsibility; a session on ' Trends in the German media' and another one on ' The challenges of online direct marketing'. The programme has been devised by IMEX's Strategic Partner, the GCB. The Professional Development and Innovation Pavilion sponsored by the Convention Industry Council is the hub of the show's free education programme, although workshops also take place in dedicated rooms in Messe Frankfurt Halls 8 and 9 before and after show hours. For the first time IMEX will be inviting early morning visitors to set themselves up for the day with Hatha Yoga and Qi Gong. These new ' Awaken Your Senses' sessions will be provided by IMEX, MCI and partner Inner Sense. Similarly, scheduled ' energiser' sessions will also be available to help revive visitors and buyers throughout the day. Richard John Associates will be offering a session dedicated to " What visitors hate about exhibitors" as part of IMEX's preshow support for exhibitors to help them maximise sales and awareness during the show. Other new sessions for 2010 include ' Influencer - The Power to Change Anything', based on the findings of the New York Timesbest- seller of the same name. Delivered by Graeme Robb Associates, this workshop recognises a growing need for improved influencing skills in order to motivate staff or simply to change to more ' reasonable' behaviours. The workshop will introduce a model for human behaviour that anyone can learn and apply both personally and professionally and is one that has been used by many of the world's biggest multinationals and non- government organisations to create profound organisational or cultural change. A team from the COP15 taskforce will also look at ' How to implement extremely sustainable events that transform a destination' and share the lessons learned from the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. First phase of research results made public Earlier this year IMEX joined forces with ICCA and Fast Future to fund and support an important new piece of global research. The ' Convention 2020' Strategic Foresight Study will look in detail at the conventions industry in 10 years' time. Fast Future CEO, Rohit Talwar, will present six different seminars at IMEX 2010, each detailing the study's first phase findings. Chief among these will be an examination and discussion about the findings' implications for the future of conventions centres and other venues. New green knowledge IMEX has also taken the market's appetite for environmental education and green suppliers into account by developing a new green education and awareness programme. New drop- in workshops will take place every hour on the Corporate Responsibility Stand ( powered by the Green Meeting Industry Council). These will offer live case studies from previous IMEX Green Award winners plus insight into the many green meeting industry standards that now exist. Some exhibitors will also be participating in a new Green Ribbon scheme this year. If their exhibition stands meet a number of criteria relating to reduced waste output, energy usage and the use of sustainable materials, all staff will be able to wear an IMEX 2010 ' Green Team' ribbon making their environmental credentials easier for buyers to spot. " Although last year's show took place against a challenging global economic backdrop it was our most successful to date," says Blooms, summing up the impact of IMEX 2010. " This year we're aiming even higher and the launch of IMEX America on the horizon in October 2011 puts us very much in the spotlight. We now have a proven and successful trade show model which is centred on a unique hosted buyer programme." THE MAGAZINE FOR THE GLOBAL EXHIBITION COMMUNITY WWW. EXHIBITION- WORLD.
