UK - Reed Exhibitions has parted ways with CEO Alastair Gornall. Gornall, a 25- year exhibition industry veteran, joined Reed in September 2004 after making a name for himself in the PR and marketing industry. He is replaced by Andrew Fowles, a member of the Worldwide Board of Reed Exhibitions for the past 13 years. Fowles will also continue to be responsible for Reed Exhibition's businesses in Germany, Austria and Russia. In a statement from Reed, Gornall said the decision to leave was his own. UK - The CEO of Clarion Events says outgoing group MD Kent Allen is leaving the company as the result of a management restructure he was responsible for driving. The organiser confirmed that Allen's departure from the company was a result of Restructuring blamed for Clarion MDredundancy Italy to boost Chinese relations redundancy, and that ultimately there was no role in the new senior management structure. Clarion CEO Simon Kimble tells EW: " His role doesn't fit with our future senior management structure and sadly this has meant Kent leaving the business." WORLD - The Centre for Exhibition Industry Research ( CEIR) has announced the results of its Q4 2009 CEIR Indexreport, saying the global exhibition industry declined 12.5 per cent in the past year. According to the research, the 2009 loss was four times CEIRsurvey shows 12.5% industry decline last year greater than the largest previous loss of 3.1 per cent in 2008. The CEIR Indexmetrics of measurement saw a decline in net square feet, revenue, professional attendance, and number of exhibiting companies for Q4 2009. USA - A Chicago man has been indicted after allegedly taking part in a bid- rigging scheme involving forklift services for two major shows held at McCormick Place. Rudolph Carmen Fratto of Darien, Illinois, also known as " the chin" and " uncle Rudy", was charged with one count of mail fraud along with William Anthony Degironemo, who owned MidStates Equipment Rentals and Sales in 2006 when the alleged bid- rigging took place. The US Attorney's office in Chicago said the pair allegedly used inside information to win forklift contracts from Greyhound Exposition Services for the 2006 International Manufacturing Technology Show and National Plastics Exposition. The district will be a first- of- its-kind development for the city, ADNEC breaks ground at Al Ain ITALY - Italy's foreign minister is using the Shanghai Expo to improve bilateral ties and its strategic partnership with China. Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told the Xinhua news agency that the Expo offers a chance to " show the best of Italy to the Chinese people", and hopes 2010 will see " closer cooperation" between the two countries. |
