VENUE WATCHIssue 8 | 2011 www.58exhibition-world.netEKATERINBURG-EXPO, RUSSIASPACE AT THE FOOT OF THE URALSThis is the new Ekaterinburg-Expo, a 50,000sqm venue just south of the Urals is due for completion by the end of the year. The venue, combined with a new international airport in Ekaterinburg, is hoped to usher in a new era of international exhibitions. The venue was designed by German architectural fi rm Wulf & Partner, designers of Stuttgart Messe, in collaboration with Spanish architect Jose Asebilo Marine.The exhibition centre is located near to the Koltsovo International Airport, 15 minutes from the city's downtown district.The fi rst phase of construction was completed in July to coincide with the Ural International Exhibition and Forum of Industry and Innovation's fi rst Innoprom 2011. Once fully completed, Ekaterinburg-Expo will be one of Russia's largest international event venues.The venue has been built with investment from the surrounding Sverdlovsk region and is on track to be fi nished by the end of the year. It will offer three 12-metre high 10,000sqm exhibition halls and one 15-metre high 20,000sqm hall.
