It says examples of increases in average values for the fleet sector included: medium family up 1% (£54) to £5,458; large family up 1.5% (£69) to £4,695; executive up 3.6% (£329) to £9,550; and mini-MPV up 1.7% (£78) to £4,716.Meanwhile, examples of decreases in average values in the fleet sector included: superminis down 6.4% (£251) to £3,656; and compact execu-tives down 2.9% (£226) to £7,590.Mike Pilkington, managing director of Manheim Remarketing, believes that the strong sales results through August were in no small part due to the shortage of quality retail stock.Looking forward, he also shares the industry view on supply. He said: "The outlook remains a cautious one with the traditional increase in stock levels anticipated and matched against steady, as opposed to buoyant retail demand."However, whether prices will come under pressure in September through an increase in supply remains to be seen, according to Roger Woodward. The managing director of online auction company CD Auction Group told Fleet News: "We believe wholesale auction values will continue to rise in the short term, supported by the lack of supply. "We also believe the car manufacturers will be incentivising fleet sales once the retail market in September has washed through in order to hit their year-end targets."As a result, fleet operators have a window of opportunity between now and, say, mid-November to maximise value and refresh their vehicles. After that, the usual seasonal price drops will apply."£5,905AugSeptOctNovDecJanFebMarAprMayJunJulyAug£5,785£5,938£5,960£5,792£6,306£5,792£6,136£5,792£5,741£5,905£6,124£5,974£6,394£5,985£6,444£5,752£6,250£5,626£6,255£5,790£6,100£5,662£5,905£5,633£5,945BCAManheimAverage value of fleet carsSupply shortage led to improvements in average values in August
