WelcomeFrom Martin JohnsonThis autumn the players have learned a lot from four challenging Investec Internationals. After a slow start, a better second half performance brought us to within ten points of the All Blacks. This gave us momentum for the game against the Wallabies and, like all England fans, I was delighted not just with the final score but also the performance. Chris Ashton grabbed the headlines, but the whole team played really well. Tom Palmer and Shontayne Hape, to name just two, had excellent games. The Samoa game was very physical; they have excellent backs and, while we were disappointed to concede two tries, we produced some good rugby of our own and it was great to see Tom Croft and Matt Banahan cross the line. The final game against South Africa was tough and we made it very difficult for ourselves by giving away a lot of possession, but overall we are in a much better position now than we were a year ago. The players and coaches are doing a great job - back-to-back wins against Australia show how far the team have come. We can look forward to the RBS 6 Nations with confidence. Wales are first up and it promises to be a great opening game for the championship.
