For 41 years, Christopher Street West has proudly been at the fore-front of the LGBT equality movement. In 1970, we produced the firstLGBT PRIDE parade in the world! And every day, we work to lead andsupport our community-boldly embodying the spirit of what we call,'PRIDE 365.' This year marks another CSW first with this inaugural issue of LAPRIDE Magazine. After so many years, and so many PRIDE Guides, welaunched LAPRIDE Magazine to bring you more about all of the specialevents we have planned for PRIDE Month. LA PRIDE Magazine is filledwith information, entertainment and insightful opinions, articles about2011's honorees and Grand Marshal's and details about all the artistsand performers you came to see. We hope you enjoy this exciting newaddition to LA PRIDE! 2011 also marks the final year of our three-year vision-PRIDE 365Power. Passion. Purpose. Looking back, we demonstrated our Powerin 2009, in a post-Prop. 8 world. Our Passion flared in 2010 as we cele-brated our monumental 40th anniversary. And we will show ourPurpose in many ways this year-most importantly by bringing ourdiverse community together to celebrate and show our Pride. Whatbegan as a call to carry forward our annual momentum on a daily basishas influenced our friends, families, allies and community in ways wenever imagined possible. On a more somber note, 2011 also marks another milestone-the 30thanniversary of the initial diagnoses of the AIDS virus which happenedright here in Los Angeles. CSW works to ensure that our conversationabout HIV/AIDS-education and prevention-continues to be impactful. This has long-remained an important focus of our work and, in collabo-ration with Frontiers Magazine, we are especially proud to bring you thefeature, AIDS @ 30, while remembering all we have lost through ourannual silent celebration during the parade. I want to thank you for joining us for LA PRIDE 2011. As an open andactive member or ally of our community, it is you that makes PRIDE thetruly iconic phenomenon it has become. Enjoy this first issue of LAPRIDE Magazine, and remember-no matter what you do, always do itwith Power, Passion and Purpose.
