In 1973, when the Sandpiper was originally born in the Florida Keys, store owner Winifred Reynolds had a vision of creating " a fi ne clothing store for a pleasant shopping experience". By the time she opened the Marco location 20 years ago, she had stores stretching from Key Largo to Naples and, with the help of her daughters Barb Perdue and Sandra P Hawkins, she had made her vision a reality, many times over! Today the Sandpiper is truly a family run business, with three generations involved in the enterprise... Winifred, or Freddie as she is known to her friends, does the buying and fl oats between all of the stores while Barb runs the store in Key Largo, at the Ocean Reef Club, and Sandra takes care of the Marco Island store and its sister store in Naples. Sandra is usually ably assisted by her daughter, Allysa Jo ( Jo Jo) who has been coming to work with her mommy since she was 6 weeks old. Making regular modelling appearances in The Marco Review, Jo Jo's sales career started before she could even sit up! And what better model could you have for the adorable Lilly Pulitzer children's clothes available at Sandpiper? In some of the photos below you can also see her wearing Sandra's cute little handmade barrettes, " Jo Jo's Bows"

which have become very popular with Marco Islanders in recent years. Allysa Jo is 2 ½ years old now and can usually be found at either the Marco or Naples stores and she always looks the part. Apparently, when her daddy re-cently asked when she would start getting a pay check for all this work, her grand-mother quickly replied... " Have you seen her closet lately?" Of course there's a lot more to Sandpiper than children's clothes... in fact there is something for just about everyone. The newly expanded range of men's clothing, includes a great selection of men's sports jackets, Tori Richards shirts and Berle shorts and pants, and a great new line of polo shirts by Coast. Their fabulous Kahala print shirts and Vine-yard Vines collection are also available for boys. When it comes to ladies' clothing, with popular brand names like Lilly Pulitzer, Nicole Miller, Fab-rizio, Michael Kors and Dead Sexy Jeans ( to name but a few) the ever- changing collection offers stylish, easy to wear clothes just perfect for our Florida lifestyle. And lines like Yummy Tummy and Spanx are also available to help us all look better whenever we wear them! There's also a great selection of accessories, scarves, jewelry and shoes including Jack Rogers and Lilly Pulitzer for ladies and children. The huge range of Vera Bradley includes sunglasses and, exclusively on Marco, they also offer the gorgeous new Vera Bradley stationery line which includes notecards, pens and pinboards. Sandpiper Clothiers is a family run store which caters to every member of your family and, with a friendly and helpful staff, it really does offer a very pleasant shopping experience! Sandpiper Clothiers are located at 1069 N. Collier Blvd., in the Marco Town Center Mall. Call 239- 642- 6691.
