There's something for everyone at Richard's Reef. It's very eclectic, offer-ing everything from fi ne designer jewelry to children's T- shirts. And it's ever changing... the up to the minute ladies' fashions, jewelry and gifts are very reasonably priced and sell quickly so the store is constantly evolving.... you never know what you might fi nd! Owners Richard and Andrea Alan have both been in business on Marco Island for many years and Richard's Reef benefi ts from a combination of their skills. Richard is a jeweler by trade who opened his original store, the Harbor Goldsmith on Front Street, some 12 years ago. Ask any local and they'll tell you that his jewelry re-pairs are second to none. He also has a strong reputation on the island for the fabulous collections of unique fi ne jewelry he fi nds on his annual buying trips to Europe and his original jewelry designs, like his Marco bracelet and Marco charms, which are popular with residents and visitors alike and are available at both his stores. Andrea has been in the retail clothing business on Marco for many years and, judg-ing by her frequent trips to market and the quick turnover of merchandise at Richard's Reef, she obviously has a good eye for fi nding trendy items which are perfect for Marco Island's laid back lifestyle. The Alans are very conscious that in this economy value for money is all important, so they have brought together an interesting mix of high end merchandise and good qual-ity, but less expensive, products. Pewter jewelry and stemwear by a young New Orleans designer rub shoulders with more expensive lines like Denny Wong's fabulous sealife collection. Inexpensive gifts like a colorful collection of Dynasty glasswear sit alongside gorgeous Murano glass imported direct from Italy.

With the current high price of gold, Richard fi nds that sterling is his best seller, so there's a great selection of sterling jew-elry, some set with sea-glass others with sparkling Swarovski crystals. He also offers a wide choice of children's jewelry and christening gifts ( which can be engraved in house). Nostalgic wooden signs, which can be custom-ized with your own message, are an unusual gift idea and Richard's Reef is the only store on Mar-co to offer authentic Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville apparel. Add this to the great selection of chic sun-dresses, beach bags, hats, ladies' sandals and casual men's and children's wear and you realize that the store is a " must- stop" shop for vacationers. Located in the courtyard of Marco Walk, the dining and entertainment center of the island, Richard's Reef stays open late so it's a great place to cruise around after dinner looking for treasures to remind you of your time in our little corner of paradise.
