Consistency is the keyword at Cocomo's... consistency in the superb quality of the food, consistency in the effi cient and fast service, consistency in the excellent value for money and consistency in the amount of fun you're going to have when you go there! Owners, Scott and Bonnie Gibbs (shown below) are invariably at the hostess desk to welcome diners and it's their hands-on management style that sets the tone for the entire place - keeping their long-serving staff happy and motivated. Don't be fooled by the strip mall apperance, come take a look inside, you won't be disappointed. The interior decor is very "Tommy Bahama" - warm, welcoming and perfect for our island setting. There's lots of greenery and humorous touches like monkeys cavorting around the top of the tikki-hut bar. The staff are also welcom-ing and friendly but the easy-going laid-back atmosphere, which hits you as soon as you go inside the door, belies the well-oiled machine that works away beneath the surface. The nicely presented, perfectly cooked food (some would say the best served on the island) appears quickly from a very effi cient kitchen. If you're just taking a few minutes from your busy work day to grab some lunch, you can be in and out in next to no time. But if, as their motto suggests, you want to "Get here fast... and take it slow" then you're more than welcome to linger as long as you wish... they're usually open from 11.30am to 11pm (although summer hours may vary a little) so there's always plenty of time. When it comes to the food, there's bound to be some-thing on the wide ranging menu to please everyone. They seem to have drawn inspiration for their delicious appetizers from all over the world with unusual offerings like seared Ahi tuna nachos, Falafal and hummus with freshly baked naan, Vietnamese salad rolls and buffalo shrimp, to name but a few. The weekday lunch menu (which is served from 11.30am-4pm) offers a wide choice of soups, salads and sand-wiches, which includes French dip, homemade crab cake sandwiches, specialty burgers, grouper, mahi and snap-per fi sh sandwiches, a delicious Monterrey chicken wrap, and daily specials. Dinner (served from 4-11pm nightly) has an even larger choice of appetizers, sal-ads, seafood, steak, pasta and sandwiches. There's New York strip, homemade crab cakes and a really impressive whole tempura fried snapper as well as their great value "combo meals" which offer combinations like sirloin steak with lobster tail or shrimp; chicken and shrimp or shrimp and lobster pasta. With a great kids' menu and modern kid's game room, children are always welcome and, with plenty to keep them entertained, the adults in the party can relax and enjoy the daily drink specials or perhaps the popular Happy Hour at the bar between 3 and 6pm daily, with great prices and appetizer specials. Cocomo's is one of those rare restaurants that seem to be able to please customers of all ages and to balance the needs of their local clientele with those of vacationers... it's the kind of place that, if you're a local... it makes you feel like you're on vacation, and if you're from out of town... it makes you feel right at home. So, with a rare marriage of consistent quality, great value, a unique menu, and fast, friendly service, Cocomo's is able to offer the affordability, reliability and the buzz of a chain restaurant while retaining the relaxed and welcoming individuality of a hometown eatery. Cocomo's is located at 945 North Collier Blvd, between McDonalds and Bald Eagle in Sunset Plaza. And for those busy times there's more parking space and an entrance around the back.
