There are many benefi ts to visiting Marco in the summer and early fall - not so many people, beautiful warm weather and Gulf and great fi shing, to name but a few. But you can also add some pretty hot deals at local restaurants to the mix. Here are the ones we knew about as we went to press.. Island Café - four course fi xed price dinner for $26 and if you order before 5.30 it's even lower at $23. Try the Creole Jambalaya with shrimp, andouille sausage, scallops and mussels....sounds really good! . Konrad's - are offering a free bottle of Vista Point wine when you purchase two dinner entrees, and you can upgrade to a more expensive wine for just $12.. O'Donoghue's - buy one dinner off their regular menu and get the second one free, with the purchase of two drinks.. Capt Brien's Seafood & Raw Bar - $12.99 for either a 1¼lb Maine lobster, a 10oz prime rib or a bucket of whole blue crabs. . Nacho Mama's - $5.99 lunch specials Monday to Friday 11am-3pm. Try the tuna nachos - they're healthy and tasty too.. Sale e Pepe - $29 special Wednesday to Sunday, 4.30-6pm, and all you can eat pasta night on Sundays from 4.30-9pm, $19.95. And best of all, the view of the Gulf is free!Cocomo's, Hoot's, Da Vinci's, The Sandbar and Stilts always have great value specials for lunch or dinner, which will continue throughout the summer also. And don't forget to use the coupons in our coupon section too! There are also Happy Hours at many of the restaurants and bars, but Arturo's has a "half-price" happy hour on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5-7pm. Then take advantage of their 25% off take home orders to enhance your savings! You'll probably have noticed some ads in the magazine which include a square, strangely patterned black and white box. Once you have downloaded a QR code app, these boxes can be scanned using a smartphone to take you directly to a specifi c website. Try it out on this one - it will take you right to our website! If you want to keep trim while still enjoying all the summer specials, why not join Club Marco Fitness & Tanning, who have a special membership for only $5.75 a week? And if you're looking for something to keep the family amused this summer Marco Island Kayak Adventures has introduced a "Family day on the boat" which includes kayak, paddleboard, fl oats, beach gear, shelling and sightseeing for the entire family from 9am-2pm for $500, and Captain Dustin Beatty, owner of Waterski & Wakeboard Charters, has set up a summer camp. Call him on 239.825.7015 for more details. We've been talking about it for some months and now Chef's Express have fi nally made the move to the Beach Club on S Collier Blvd. Don't miss their new specialty beach baskets... a great idea for a delicious summer picnic. We have a new and very different sailboat charter joining our waters this summer. Based in Goodland, Tropicbird Sailing offers full day luxury sailboat charters deep into the 10,000 islands, which are led by a master naturalist captain who is also a round the world sailor. Optical Boutique in Marco Walk has added lighted readers to its range of glasses. A neat idea for us old folk whose eyes seem to deteriorate by the day. Especially in dim light. The ladies at Sandpiper Clothier have been kept very busy recently... a pair of their Pantalon pants were recommended by Kathy Lee Gifford on "The Today Show" and they have been fl ying off the shelves with the hundreds of online orders. Oh the power of a celebrity recommendation! And, last but not least, we have a new store in Marco Town Center Mall. It's called Caribongo and sells sun-activated, color changing apparel, jewelry, nail polish and accessories... there shouldn't be any trouble getting these novelty products to change color in the hot Florida summer sun!
