The Journey of theYouth Olympic Flame(JYOF) willseek to inspire youngsters around the world toembrace, embody and express the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respectith the IOC President Jacques Roggepresent, the JYOF will start its route on23 July with the lighting of the firstYouth Olympic Flame in Olympia, Greece. The Flamewill then travel to one city in each of the fivecontinents: Berlin (Germany), Dakar (Senegal), MexicoCity (Mexico), Auckland (New Zealand) and Seoul(Republic of Korea), where it will be welcomed by thepublic at various iconic sites.Each day will end with a City Celebration for all tojoin in the festivities, celebrating the world's first YouthOlympic Games. To take part in the torch pass ceremony,participants had to show how they live the Olympicvalues by sharing their deeds of excellence, friendshipand respect on the Million Deeds Challenge website(www.milliondeeds.sg). "The Million Deeds Challenge is designed toresemble a virtual torch relay and every deed sharedwill see the virtual Youth Olympic Flame journeythrough the 205 NOCs," said Goh Kee Nguan, ChiefExecutive of SYOGOC. "It symbolises that we are all connected throughthe Olympic Movement and are a part of Singapore2010."After journeying through the five cities, the YouthOlympic Flame will reach Singapore, where it will travel through five community districts in a six-daytorch relay with a Community Celebration at the end of each day. About 2,400 torchbearers will run in Singapore,covering approximately 100m each. The six-day torchrelay will be run from 7 to 8 August 2010, with abreak on 9 August 2010 (Singapore's National Day),and continuing on 10 to 13 August 2010.
