THAILANDThe resort town of Hua Hin in Thailand's centralPrachuapkirikhan province staged a number ofOlympic Day events on 26 June. By far the mostpopular was the Olympic Day Run, which attracted30,000 people who had the choice of either a12.8km run or a 3.8km walking rally. The biggest number of participants came from the15-24 age bracket, with 14,000 youngsters takingpart, while there were also 10,000 adults agedbetween 25 and 60. In addition there were 3,000children aged 14 or under; 2,000 senior citizens;1,000 people with disabilities; and, last but certainlynot least, 20 Olympians.On the same day, the youngsters in Hua Hin hadthe opportunity to learn about the history and valuesof the Olympic Games. Some 1,200 school pupilsaged nine to 15 were involved in the "Olympic Valuesthrough Play" event and the "Fresh-Friend-Fun-Fair-Fit Activities".At six separate learning stations, children wereable to view Olympic posters, symbols and mottos,and read about the history of the Games. There were games organised to teach them aboutteamwork and fair play, and their knowledge of theOlympic Movement was tested with a quiz.
