Born in Barbados, Alan Harris, 25, attended Queen's College before pursuing his degree in Sociology at the University of the West Indies. During that time he also obtained a diploma in Mass Communications from the International School of Radio Broadcasting. In 2008, Harris joined the Barbados Advocate and, in 2010, during the inaugural YOG in Singapore, he was awarded the Steve Parry Award by the IOC for the Most Outstanding Young Reporter.John Vidal is The Guardian's environment editor. He joined the paper in 1995 after working for Agence France Presse.
