Alumni SnapshotAlexis Rodriguez '01Director, Public Relations for Parfums Givenchy and PUCCI Fragrance "My success comes from the professional education I received. I have been able to apply something from each of my courses to my career."Find your place in the world at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. We offer more than 50 majors in the arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences on both Pace campuses. From Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, and Environmental Science to Psychology, Musical Theater, and Communications, Dyson programs are designed to help you improve your understanding of our complex world.Connecting theory and experienceIn the Pace tradition, Dyson courses focus on the connection between theory and practical experience. Simply put, we make learning relevant to your life. Students of JaimeLee Rizzo, PhD, are researching antimicrobial compounds that can be bonded onto fabrics and may have lifesaving applications for hospital patients. And Performing Arts students got hands-on acting experience starring alongside Assistant Professor Grant Kretchik in the independent film When Harry Tries to Marry, which was filmed on campus. Most students also get a taste of the real world through many internships and work experiences. Last year almost 400 Dyson students completed internships for companies, including the American Cancer Society, MTV, Page Six, the Federal Department of Corrections, Simon & Schuster, Madison Square Garden, Epic Records, and the Consulate of Venezuela, among others. Dyson students have also been awarded prestigious Washington Center and Lipper internships, Watson Fellowships, and Fulbright Scholarships.Dedicated to their fields, devoted to youOur professors are leaders in their fields and, more importantly, devoted educators who dedicate time to helping their students succeed. Our faculty members bring their life and professional experiences into the classroom, providing you with the opportunity to learn from their expertise. In every discipline, our faculty are widely recognized as both scholars and teachers. For example, Distinguished Professor Janetta Rebold Benton, PhD, Fine Arts, regularly lectures at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Biology and Environmental Science Professor Richard Schlesinger, PhD, has reviewed air pollution issues for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization; and Criminal Justice and Security Professor and Department Chair Joseph Ryan, PhD, a 25-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, served on the 9/11 Commission.WESTCHESTER + NEW YORK CITYGo anywhere.
