Whatever their professional field, there are few things engineers enjoy more than exchanging ideas and exploring how other people solve common problems. This is why focused industry events are so popular, and why AVEVA's ISEIT and Marine User Meetings ( AMUM) have been consistently successful for more than two decades. But the world is changing. Traditional boundaries between engineering specialisations are converging as projects become ever more complex, technologies more integrated, and working methods more collaborative. AVEVA is helping to drive this change, both with its technologies and in the ways it supports customers and the wider engineering industry. This year, we launch AVEVA World, a new approach that brings engineering professionals and technologists together by combining the best of ISEIT and AMUM. The AVEVA World Summits are the first step in a wider initiative that will create an inclusive and accessible community, designed to grow and evolve over time. AVEVA World Summits feature three major events in 2010 at exciting venues around the world, and with packed agendas which will appeal to engineering professionals and managers in both the plant and marine industries. Each event follows the flexible multi- track format which has proved so successful and popular at ISEIT and AMUM. The evening before the event, delegates will enjoy a relaxing drinks reception in the hotel. On the first full day, a single- track agenda includes insightful presentations by acknowledged industry experts and thought leaders, covering a range of topical issues. On the second day, multi- track agendas provide in- depth coverage of specific issues of interest to different sections of the engineering business community. Visit the new AVEVA World website A new website has already been launched ( www. avevaworld. com) where you can find out more about the AVEVA World Summits, and register for the one in your region, whether Amsterdam, Beijing or Las Vegas. Who attends AVEVA World Summits? As our customers evolve their businesses to handle increasingly complex projects, there is often a blurring of the boundary between the marine and process industries, as well as between the operational roles within these disciplines. The new AVEVA World Summits recognise this trend toward industry convergence by combining different requirements and expertise into a single collaborative event. In 2010 we have extended the audience for our AVEVA World Summits to include the process, power, marine and offshore industries. The Summits bring together senior executives and engineering and information managers, from both EPC ( Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and Owner Operator companies, to network and discuss the opportunities offered by the latest engineering design and information management solutions. Why attend an AVEVA World Summit? Only at an AVEVA World Summit will you be able to: . Engage and debate industry issues that are strategic to the future success of your business. . Network and collaborate with industry professionals and technology experts. . Understand and influence the development of technology solutions for the needs of your industry. . See the latest business- enhancing solutions from AVEVA technology partners. . Return invigorated with new insights that help you meet your business challenges. The theme for the 2010 AVEVA World Summits is Engage - Inspire - Deliver. So engagewith AVEVA and the other delegates; be inspiredby the speakers and the technology on show; and work together with AVEVA to deliverthe greater efficiency and productivity demanded by your business. AVEVA Americas celebrated the opening of its state- of- the- art Business Performance Centre on March 2, 2010, at its Americas headquarters in Houston, Texas. The invitation- only event included a breakfast and presentation for EPCs on preparing for the economic rebound. Speakers from Mustang and WorleyParsons, as well as from AVEVA, delivered presentations on the evaluation of Asset Lifecycle Management solutions, using the impressive 20- foot by 5- foot, 6.6- million pixel rear- projection screen. Other attendees came from companies including the Alliance Wood Group, J. Ray McDermott, Audubon Engineering, TDS, Cimation, and Doris. ' We couldn't be happier with the resources of the Business Performance Centre, and the reception it received,' said William Muldoon, Executive Vice President of North America, AVEVA Inc. ' The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. The event demonstrated the value and the potential the new Business Performance Centre offers our customers and partners, and we're already scheduling new events for the next several months.' Shortly after the EPC breakfast, a similar event was held for Owner Operators, and the attendees came away with valuable insights into operational integrity management. Many attendees were overheard marvelling at the Centre's capabilities, and several are already making plans to use the facility for their own functions. In fact, FIATECH has announced its summer Board meeting will be held at the Centre in July 2010. ' This is going to be an exciting place where, in a comfortable, immersive, and interactive environment, we can show how our solutions can benefit our customers and partners,' Muldoon continued. ' The facility will also be open to our clients as a virtual design centre, custom- made to help them position their companies to take advantage of future marketplace trends and opportunities. They'll have a fully- equipped, secure centre to fuel their creativity and help them address their design and information management needs, as well as to host events for their own clients.' Muldoon explained that, in an era of declining trade show attendance, the centre fills a valuable niche. ' Today's generation of business leaders are moving away from costly trade shows. Instead, they're looking for something more personal, where they can get to know vendors and can meet prospects in a more relaxed, business- like environment. This Centre fits in perfectly with these changing needs.'
