AVEVA Instrumentation - the hard economic facts AVEVA Instrumentation's simple user interface and intuitive workflow give time back to the engineer, promoting significant savings and, therefore, delivering hard economic benefit. Consequently, we are seeing AVEVA Instrumentation being enthusiastically adopted across our customers' sectors. Under difficult economic conditions, the ability to manage down costs is often the defining factor in whether a business survives or perishes. We have even worked with our customers to develop an electronic business value calculator that helps to set out some potential savings/ ROI scenarios for your business - do ask your AVEVA contact to share this compelling tool with you. Open and free exchange of information Free and open information exchange is at the heart of our product strategy. We have gone one step further by developing, amongst other improvements, an enhanced P& ID interface. We can now exchange, and add value to, information from P& ID variants such as AVEVA Diagrams or AVEVA P& ID, as well as from third- party suppliers. Moreover, AVEVA Instrumentation is fully compatible with AVEVA NET, the Information Management solution that underpins much of AVEVA's wider Owner Operator and EPC offerings. The tight coupling between AVEVA Instrumentation and AVEVA NET means that information can be exchanged between AVEVA Instrumentation and other systems, whether third- party, home- grown or, indeed, from AVEVA itself. Checking and linking of the data can then occur, making potential dependencies visible to both managers and frontline users, thus preventing error and duplication of effort. For example, a designer using AVEVA Instrumentation can create an instrument and publish the design data for that instrument to AVEVA NET. This then presents the designer with related P& IDs and documentation, together with status information, to provide additional context and enable the designer to make more informed design decisions. This, in turn, brings immediate benefits in the form of a more efficient design process and better design decision making, as well as less expensive rework. In the same way, new integration features, like the ability to click on an instrument on the P& ID to give instant access to a plant items datasheet, provide the engineer with timely and detailed information. What does success look like? AVEVA's ability to deliver on promises finds solid expression through these latest improvements to AVEVA Instrumentation, and feedback from the market has been extremely encouraging. AVEVA Instrumentation is setting a new standard for engineering technologies. Its growing presence across many of our customers' implementations is proof, that our customers' needs are at the very heart of our delivery. As a wise man once said, ' Success is a journey, not a destination.' We call this Continual Progression. In the last issue, we reported on AVEVA's partnership with SAP, one of the world's largest enterprise software companies. The partnership centres on the compatibility between AVEVA NET and key SAP modules, making AVEVA NET a compelling Information Management solution for users of SAP technology. The partnership is now gaining a significantly higher profile, as AVEVA has been admitted to the SAP EcoHub, a community- powered website and storefront that makes it easier for current and potential customers to discover, evaluate and purchase partner solutions. Anyone can visit the EcoHub environment to access corporate and product information, but SAP strictly limits the companies displayed on the EcoHub through carefully controlled partnership and certification programmes. The SAP EcoHub integrates community input, user feedback, ratings and demos, collateral, case studies, contact information and more, and its online content can be updated at any time, in line with new developments and announcements. Dave Coppin, head of Global Business Development for AVEVA NET, explained further: ' SAP's EcoHub online solution marketplace really makes the search for information simpler and more productive. Thanks to SAP EcoHub, the benefits provided by our AVEVA NET information management solution, integrated with SAP solutions - benefits in cost, time, quality, validation and risk - are now easy for current and potential customers to research, and are clearly articulated.' And clear articulation is an absolute priority when you're dealing with a solution that delivers such diverse benefits. Sometimes, it's difficult to know where to start the explanation, but the EcoHub provides a compact selection of information and contact methods to demonstrate the listed solutions in the most effective light. Resources available for download from the SAP EcoHub site include an AVEVA NET summary, an informational white paper and customer success stories. Also provided are certification details for AVEVA NET, and the facility to request a live demo or contact from AVEVA. Visitors can search for solutions in many ways, including by industry or solution, key words, relevance or partner name. Solutions can be evaluated online based on feedback from other users, partners and business experts. EcoHub is linked into Partner Edge, a much wider SAP partner programme which provides many other tools and resources to enable partners to better serve the needs of current and potential customers. These include technical education, collaborative innovation programmes and so forth. But the best storefront in the world will attract only window- shoppers if the goods on display don't deliver measurable business benefits. The AVEVA NET/ SAP solution certainly does deliver these. As memorably expressed recently by Bill van Butzelaar, Engineering Information Management Project Manager at Australia's biggest oil & gas provider, Woodside Energy Ltd: ' The information management benefits delivered by our use of AVEVA NET and SAP solutions have saved us millions of dollars and significantly increased productivity. We believe that no other system could have achieved this degree of success.' EcoHub is where the world shops for SAP solutions. AVEVA is proud to be a part of this community.
