Going Green Awareness 13.30 Audio-visual outline of the science & major issues A talk by an environmental expert and film screening combine to help the group understand the gravity of the current environmental situation and the underpinning science. This is followed by the expert’s outline of what could be done to help. Engagement 14.15 Teams assembled & focus areas assigned The group form four teams and are briefed to research and formulate a company ‘green strategy’ in line with the issues raised during the outline. The teams are each appointed to a specific ‘focus area’. Teams tackle their focus areas with access to company systems and information, internet resources, expert advice, carbon calculators, laptops & printers, case studies and an environmental reference library. Focus Area A Environmental and carbon assessment Employ the help of a specialist and use simple tools and methods to measure the company’s carbon and environmental footprint by focusing on water, electric, gas, oil and waste. This highlights the impact companies and individuals are having on the environment and energy resources, and defines areas able to be tackled. How does it work?
