The City and County of Broomfield, along with its residents, have a written plan from which all decisions are made. From spending and business development decisions to public park maintenance and renewable energy ideas, the 2005 Comprehensive Plan serves as a guidepost. Almost all community and government actions are taken only after careful consider- ation of what's best for Broomfield without compromising its community identity. How many cities this size can claim that kind of small- town harmony? www. BroomField. orgA great place to live. work. play! . Fun. Family- Friendly. Community- oriented. Here are just a few of the ways the Chamber contributes locally: Sustainable Community . The Chamber serves on the Sustainable Community Task Force and is the liaison between the business community and the task force to create a desirable and sustainable community now and for future generations. . Their annual Broomfield Days Trade Fair ( part of the largest Broomfield community event, Broomfield Days put on by the City and County of Broomfield) went 100 percent green starting in 2008. The effort is part of a community endeavor to become more sustainable by reducing, reusing and recycling. ( The Chamber's Beer Booth even uses recyclable beer cups made out of corn!) Considering an estimated 25,000 people attend each year, the Chamber's 100 percent Zero Waste promise will help save a lot of trees! Healthy Community . The Chamber partners with Broomfield Health and Human Services to host an annual Broomfield Community Wellness Fair that promotes physical, mental, social and emotional balance. The Chamber also promotes other health, wellness and fitness events in the community. . The Chamber offers wellness workshops to members and nonmembers on things such as " Office Ergonomics", " Disaster Preparedness" and " The Healthy Workforce." Charitable Community . At each of the Chamber's quarterly Power of Five events, the hosting leads group raises money to donate to the community nonprofit of their choice. Recipients have included Broomfield Senior Resources, Ballet Nouveau Colorado's Outreach Program and an annual blood drive for the Bonfils Blood Center, among others. . The Chamber encourages and promotes events in which businesses donate proceeds to Broomfield- area nonprofits. " Events such as our annual Membership Appreciation Picnic are great for a number of reasons," says Broomfield Chamber President Jennifer Kerr. " It brings families together, raises money and collects food and personal items for FISH of Broomfield. This event increases awareness about their services and provides for Broomfield residents in need. We're happy to be a part of events that support local nonprofits."
