Ask the longtime residents of Berthoud why they love it here and they may simply tell you, "Because it's great!" But if you're on the fence about moving here, you don't need to take their word for it. We've got several less subjective reasons that Berthoud should be your next hometown! It's centrally located.Located in the central part of Northern Colorado, Berthoud is close to skiing, Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver International Airport, respected colleges and universities, top-rated hospitals and Denver's museums, zoo, Botanic Gardens, aquarium, sports arenas and performing arts venues, among a long list of other things. There's plenty of housing under development.Berthoud is booming with residential con-struction: Hammond Farm (north of LCR 10E and west of LCR 17), Heritage Ridge (south of Spartan Ave. at Fifth St.), Heron Lakes (Highway 287), Heron Pointe (LCR 14 and LCR 17), High Plains (Fifth St. and Spartan Ave.), PrairieStar (LCR 17 and Highway 287), Rose Farm (Spartan Ave. and CR 17) and Vantage (LCR 17 and Bunyan Ave.).Caleb Development's Hammond Farm is expected to have homes on the market in 2017.According to PrairieStar President Scott Sarbaugh, construction will begin on PrairieStar's Village Center—which will include retail shops, restaurants, banking establishments, office spaces and a grocery store—in 2018. Wilson Ranch, a 1,600-acre master-planned community at the southwest corner of I-25 and CR 44 (SH 56), will feature single-family homes, 5.3 million square feet of commercial space, and over 500 acres of open space. Perhaps the most highly anticipated development of all is the 800-acre Heron Lakes master-planned golf community, which will include TPC Colorado. The semi-private club will feature an 18-hole championship golf course equipped with infrastructure to accommodate a professional tournament, a sports center, pool and fitness facility and clubhouse. (See page 8 for details.)Crime is virtually nonexistent.Safety is a contributing factor to Berthoud being one of the most livable small towns in Colorado. Berthoud has an incredibly low violent crime rate and property crime rate. In fact, using these two factors, along with proximity to a hospital, school ratings and median home sale price, Berthoud ranked No. 1 on the list of 5 Safest and Most Livable Small Towns in Colorado.*Likewise, gave Berthoud an overall A- rating based on factors such as crime & safety, public schools, housing, nightlife, diversity and "good for families."After Berthoud made SafeWise's Top 20 Safest Cities in Colorado, SafeWise released a report saying: "[Berthoud is] a progressive town where leaders encourage citizens to voice their questions and concerns at monthly 'Community Chats.' This problem-solving initiative promotes dialogue about community issues, which can help keep the city's crime rates low."Residents have access to state-of-the-art health care.In addition to having its own facilities for family medicine, senior care, physical ther-apy, vision, pharmacy, dental, chiropractic and more, Berthoud is a short drive to more than 10 hospitals.Residents can also take comfort knowing they're close to some of the top hospitals in the state, including University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Porter Adventist in Denver, Children's Hospital in Aurora, National Jewish Health in Denver, Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Littleton Adventist in Littleton and Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, among others. It's business friendly and full of job opportunities."Colorado's Northern Front Range is boom-ing," explains Sarbaugh. "As a variety of new industries and businesses come into the region, they're creating plentiful employ-ment opportunities."Berthoud has a very active Chamber offering a long list of benefits (see page 22) and business allies to help start-ups and existing businesses grow, profit and fill their job openings. The Town of Berthoud offers numerous ways and possible incentives to attract new businesses to the area. Its revised Development Code provides for greater diversity and clarity for future development. There's so much to do!There's so much to do in Berthoud, whether you're a family with young kids, a single adventurer or a senior enjoying retirement. From a full year-round calendar (see page 12), museums and shops, to indoor recre-ation and outdoor exploration, you don't need to leave the area to stay active. Berthoud is a close-knit community and its residents have hearts of gold. With so many service organizations (see page 20), you could volunteer for a different organization every month and still have plenty left for next year!If you're thinking about moving to Berthoud, visit or con-tact the Chamber at (970) 532-4200 or via Our Chamber Ambassadors would be happy to help you find the resources you need and answer your questions about Berthoud. We'd love to make you part of the Berthoud community!*SOURCE: BerthoudYour HomeRendering: PrairieStar14 | Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce | | 970.532.4200
