6WelcomeWelcomeWelcomelcomecomeWelcomelWelcomeWlwelcWomeellwelcomewelcomecomeIt's September and following these long, lazy summer months, we're pleased to bring you another edition of our ownCOLLECTIONSmagazine. Now, with eight years under our belts in the publishing game, we've been fortunate to feature a wide range of Toronto'smost elaborate and famous homes on our cover. From expansive Caledon estates to contemporary Bridle Pathcompounds, and from secluded Muskoka retreats to opulent Forest Hill masterpieces, we've really been able to showour readers the full spectrum of what the Greater Toronto Area is able to offer in luxury homes... or, so we thought. This issue's cover house --Roxborough's renowned Wolf House, built by acclaimed architect Barton Myers --is notonly recognized the world over, but this heritage home represents an important piece of Canadian history. Consideredone of the most important achievements of 20th century North American architecture, the Wolf House takes off-the-shelf industrial materials and employs them to elegant effect. Today, it is not uncommon to see others buildingon this style; however, at conception it was largely unheard of, particularly in conservative Rosedale. The home wouldgo on to win Architectural Record House of the Year in 1977. and, 35 years later, it can be yours to own.Myers' masterpiece is not the only icon featured in these pages. We are fortunate to be joined by Canadian dancelegend, Karen Kain. With three decades spent atop the international ballet circuit, and a Companion of the Order ofCanada to show for her remarkable efforts, Ms. Kain's achievements are well known the world over. Today, shecontinues to serve the National Ballet of Canada as the organization's Artistic Director. With the 2012-2013 seasonabout to start, Ms. Kain is here to talk about the art form and her plans for the coming year.As always, we also bring our readers special columns written by one the city's most respected designers and one ofour top chefs. This issue is no different. Alex Chapman of Union 31, with partner Neil Jonsohn, is here to talk aboutcolour and how to change the energy of a room with a little paint. Marc St. Jacques, of Auberge du Pommier fame, follows suit by taking us on a trip to our local markets. Auberge du Pommier may be celebrating its 25th anniversary, but Marc's tastes are firmly in the present and he has many ways for us to make the most of cooking in season.Of course, there's plenty more in store. From the AGO's anticipated Frida and Diego exhibit, to our continuing coverageof the Brick Works seminal expo on the future of transit, MOVE, to a hike down memory lane in celebration of 50years of the Bruce Trail Conservancy, there's something for everyone. And feel free to check our directory of homesfor sale. As always, if you have any questions, we are here to help.Have a great fall and we'll see you in December!Harvey KallesChairman & C.E.O.
