17www.rockleyadventure.coM 01202 677 272parent informationIt is obviously imperative that parents/guardians receive all the correct information about the trip at the right time. The information sheets in the relevent appendices of this booklet should provide all the necessary information. Most schools choose to run an Information Evening for parents/guardians prior to the group's departure, this gives you the opportunity to present the week's programme and answer any questions. In some cases, schools may choose to invite a member of Rockley Adventure staff along to their parents information evenings to deliver a presentation of the trip.If you feel a presentation of this sort would be helpful prior to your trip please contact us during October 2009 to arrange a date. You may also like to direct parents/ guardians and pupils to our website, at www.rockleyadventure.com, where they can access more information about our trips and submit feedback, via the dedicated parents area.Special Needs and Behavioural ProblemsYou must notify us in writing, as early as possible, giving details of any special needs or specific pupil issues that are relevant to the safety and smooth running of your trip with us.Severe Food Allergies / IntolerancesIn extreme cases where a pupil is violently intollerant or allergic to certain foodstuffs, we wouldn't use it in any of our catering or preparation for that week. As all of our food is made from base products we do not have a problem with anything containing nuts, for example, without us knowing. We don't use many pre-packaged foods. The only real exception is breakfast cereal where, as in the UK, you can not guarantee a lack of contamination due to different brands being made in the same factory. As a precaution the chef would meet with the pupil and a member of the school staff at the start of the week to discuss whether there is anything further they should know or any foods that they have been caught out on before. For pupils with very restrictive diets it may be expedient to request that the parents/guardians provide a suggested menu plan and/or supplement our meals with specialist foodstuffs that the pupil brings with them and which may not be readily available in France.Pupils' Behaviour CharterIt is extremely important both for safety and for everyone's enjoyment that you discuss the following points with both parents and pupils to ensure a thorough understanding of what is expected:. Our centres are based on sites, which are occupied by other holidaymakers in addition to our groups; after 2030 hours noise should be kept to a minimum and shouting and singing are NOT permitted. Rockley Adventure centres are NON SMOKING centres. Pupils should be discouraged from using the toilet blocks as a social area. Pupils under the age of 18 years are not permitted to consume alcohol. On arrival at any of our centres each pupil is issued with a unique identification wristband, which is to be worn at all times. Pupils without a wristband are not allowed on any activities. Wristbands deliberately removed will only be replaced upon payment of a fee.. Pupils should conduct themselves in a manner that is not offensive to others (remember when in France bystanders will probably be able to understand English) - poor behaviour reflects badly on the pupil, their school and Rockley Adventure.. Rockley Adventure reserves the right to return any person to the UK, at their own/parent/guardian's expense, who, in our opinion, is out of control. Rockley Adventure also reserves the right to charge for the full cost of repair or replacement of any equipment damaged wilfully, damaged under the influence of drink or drugs or damaged as a result of a group member not obeying the Company staff's instructions.Various people and organisations involved in your trip welcome Rockley Adventure and its customers - campsite owners, coach and ferry operators as well as other holidaymakers and local residents. It is obviously important for us to retain the goodwill that we have with our neighbours and suppliers and in turn for you as Group Leader to have a trouble-free trip.We have produced a Behaviour Charter (Appendix XII, page 36) - please photocopy and distribute to pupils and parents/guardians.Please add any of your own guidelines and discuss these with your Centre Manager, so that our staff are fully informed and can help you maintain an acceptable standard of behaviour.
