I have started fishing from 7 years old, I fished with a hazelnut stick on the " Oker" river in my backyard, hunting for roach, perch, bream, etc.. When I was 10 years old I got a real fishing boost because I caught my first carp and found myself almost every day on the river bank. In Germany we need to pass an exam in fishing to be able to get a fishing permit, so when I was 12 years old I joined a fishing club and got the exam. I make multiple trips a year to France, Italy and Spain but also enjoy fishing in my region on lakes and rivers. My name is Laurent Checko, and I am 31 years old. The beginning of the story starts in 1983, when I was only 5 years old. I went fishing with my grandfather to catch Roach, Gudgeon and Perch, my first fish, and from then, the passion just grew stronger. I learned much about fishing techniques then, but was keen to learn more. Over many years, I bought loads of books and magazines to try to understand everything about fishing techniques, mainly for predators and silver fish. Then, in 1992, I discovered carp, and UK carp fishing techniques to catch them! It was a great opportunity to mix my new passion with modern technical products and techniques. Since then, carp fishing has taken up more and more of my life, and I have become a real fishing addict! I was so passionate and proud that I decided to chase my dream job, and eventually I succeeded, as I am now a Product Manager for Pure Fishing, and am responsible for the rod and combo business throughout Europe.
