JAMIE Masson and Andy Kinder have, between them, won thousands of fishing competitions but 2010 was an amazing year and just one of their great wins was the Maver Pairs final at Larford Lakes. The pair finished 32-kilos in front of second place. They both used Marukyu baits and Jamie Masson explains how the pair ran away with the prestigious Mavers Pairs title:"There is no question that practice does make a big difference but above that is confidence, that's why we use the best bait in the world - Marukyu."Working in the tackle industry means we both have access to the very best tackle and most of the people we fish with spend fortunes on gear, but it always amazes me that many of our fellow anglers skimp on bait."At the time, few other anglers knew about Marukyu so we had the edge. But having the bait is only half the battle - you still have to use it correctly and a good draw helps. "We had two groundbaits that we knew would be devastating at Larford. Our practice sessions proved that, but above all we understood the science behind the baits."There is no such thing as miracle bait that will catch every species big or small every week on every venue throughout the year. Why? Simply, there are too many variables. But by understanding the science you can make the best choice."Only Marukyu can give you that choice. We chose two baits and these are the reasons why."The first was EFG 131 - there is no question that this is possibly the most versatile bait there is. We know that with over 23 main ingredients plus Nori - a combination of seaweeds and kelp - that this is truly an all-species bait."Bream were going to play a big part in this match and we wanted to make sure we could catch them along with the carp. Nori is the key again and the triggers are perfect for carp, bream, chub, tench and barbel as well."Our second choice was the new EFG 161, a big-fish groundbait that is devastating on a method or groundbait feeder. It is truly unbelievable with its unique ingredients plus science we never dreamt about like controlled breakdown speed, coldwater triggers and attractants that blew our minds. "The important thing is that they work better and differently to any other groundbaits. The rest is history. We won the two-day event with almost 99-kilos, second place had 66-kilos."Between Jamie and Andy, this season has seen scores of wins using Marukyu baits. They believe in the edge these baits will give you over competitors' baits.KINDER AND MASSON HAMMER MAVER PAIRS FINAL 2010 USING MARUKYU BAITS Choosing just two of the new baits played a major role in the duo's big winMasson and Kind-er 'thank' Maver's Phil BriscoePairs fi shing at its best - the 2010 Maver fi nal "The important thing is that they work better and differently to any other groundbaits"www.marukyu.co.uk034-035 Maruyku.indd 34/3/11 12:02:02
