Interview FastFacts PinkApproved took a few moments out to ask some key people in the travel and hospitality industry some questions about the endorsement, their work commitments in general and towards the LGBT community We spoke with Kimberly G. Napolitano, Sr. Director of Sales, Preferred Partnership Accounts Hilton Worldwide Welcome Kim, What's your position with the company and your overall mission, how do you see your work with the LGBT community I am the Senior Director of Sales, Preferred Partnership Accounts for Hilton Worldwide. I oversee two accounts which represents about $1B in booked group room business to the meetings' industry each year. We see our participation in PinkApproved as an incredible opportunity to work more with the LGBT community. When Conrad Hilton opened his first hotel in Cisco, Texas in 1919, his guests were greeted with a friendly welcome that was inspired by his philosophy: "To fill the Earth with the Light and Warmth of Hospitality". Nearly 90 years and more than 3,500 hotels later, guests of Hilton Worldwide Hotels experience that same level of commitment to genuine hospitality and we're delighted to share this with the LGBT community. Can you describe a usual day in the world of Kim Wow, a usual day for me is that it's anything but a repeat of the previous day. This is what keeps me motivated in my role and has been one of the driving reasons why I have worked for Hilton Worldwide over 17 years. For the most part, my day is focused on driving strategies to help our hotels book more business with the two accounts I oversee for the company. On the personal front, I am married to a wonderful man, Michael, who supports my efforts in my career with Hilton. We have three terrific kids, Owen, 13 yrs; Nicholas, 9 years and Maren 8 years who keep us very busy after work and on the weekends with Soccer, Football, Ballet and Cheerleading. Fortunately, the fall sports season is winding down and we might be able to breathe a bit. In all your travels around the world what is your most memorable destination and hotel This is a terrific question as I do have a few. I would like to start of with New Orleans, as I love the spirit of the people in this city and let's not forget the amazing food and terrific music! Chicago, San Francisco and New York are very vibrant cities that offer some much in the way of entertainment, restaurants and shopping, I really enjoy myself every time I visit. But if I had to pick just one, I would say Rome, Italy. I was able to do a stay over while on a business trip in Europe and fell in love with Italy and the warm hospitable greeting the locals shared with all of the tourist milling about the city. I stayed at our Rome Cavalieri, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel and was able to over look Vatican City and had a quick drive to the main shopping area as well as did the tour of the ancient city. All that history, along with the fabulous food and beverage and the amazing shopping, for me was a special moment in my life. I know there are many other terrific destinations around the globe that I have on my bucket list and I'm looking forward to visit all of them!!!! We speak to Michele Leyden, Sales Manager of the Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach Welcome Michele,What's your position with the company and your overall mission, how do you see your work with the LGBT community Sales Manager who offers a boutique-style property on the intracoastal waterway in Hollywood at an excellent location with unlimited activities and attractions to enjoy for all guests with active lifestyles and a strong desire to experience some of the greatest assets that South Florida has to offer.Describe a usual day in the world of Michele I tend to spend my day responding to customers interests for our Hotel, directly in person and via email and phone. I do a lot of researching and prospecting companies that have a need for planning meetings and events and sharing the details on our Hotel and the local area.. In addition I contact decision makers to showcase our Hotel and how we can meet their organizations objectives for future programs. In all your travels around the world what is your most memorable destination and hotel I believe my most memorable destinations are Paris, St. Maarten and Aruba As for hotels, I would have to say Gaylord Palms, Orlando, Hyatt Regency Aruba and Club Med Cancun.
