How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Our objective for this report first and foremost is to recognize those who support our healthcare network. We will also illustrate the spirit of community that makes our area of Eastern Connecticut an attractive place to live and grow.In the last century, people in Eastern Connecticut rallied together to create and develop many extraordinary community organizations. Among them are the Manchester Memorial and Rockville General hospitals, the Women's Center for Wellness and the John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center, as well as a short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing facility, Woodlake at Tolland. Collectively, these and many other medical facilities in our area comprise the Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN). Over the past year, the ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation was the grateful recipient of thousands of contributions from Eastern Connecticut residents to benefit ECHN. These gifts are a reflection of the support and passion that continues for quality healthcare in a caring, community environment. Each contribution that is given is meaningful to our health network. Some are given in gratitude for the care received at an ECHN facility, some because of concern for others who are struggling with a health condition. Some gifts are given for a specific designation, and others to serve the greatest needs of our patients. Purposes aside, the spirit of these gifts lives on throughout generations of families, and with each passing decade, the need for support continues and grows. In this annual report, you will find stories that warm your heart and explain just how important each gift is to our Foundation. Regardless of the size of each gift, the cumulative impact of giving is reflected in the equipment that can be purchased, the programs that can be delivered and the capital renovations that can be made. Your contributions also support continuing education for our nursing staff, which enables them to grow with the evolving nature of care.On behalf of the patients and families we serve, we extend our deepest gratitude for your generous support.1 |
