he Jack Mason Memorial Golf Tournament and the Daniel Paul Purcell, MD, Memorial Golf Classic have been held annually since the early 1980s. These events have attracted strong support from local businesses and community representatives. At a meeting between the Mason and Purcell families and the principals of ECHN and the ECHN Foundation after the 2010 tournaments, it was determined that combining these two tournaments into one was the most effective use of our resources and would bring the most benefit to both hospitals. Combining efforts and operating as one golf tournament would illustrate the unification of the ECHN organization, considerably reduce expenses and celebrate the historical merging of two established families in the Eastern Connecticut community.ECHN extends its gratitude to the following sponsors: Scoreboard SponsorsAllscriptsBNY Mellon Wealth ManagementRegistration Table SponsorsCerner CorporationConnecticut Business SystemsCrown Healthcare Apparel ServicesCWPM, LLC DeRoyal IndustriesEMC CorporationHarmony Healthcare International, Inc.Durant, Nichols, Houston, Hodgson & Cortese-Costa, PCThe first combined Mason & Purcell Golf Classic was held on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield. In an era where nursing shortages are reaching critical levels, this fundraising event was designed to raise money for scholarships which are given to current ECHN employees who wish to pursue becoming a nurse or advancing their nursing career. The event offers a 23-mile bicycle course which connects Woodlake at Tolland, Rockville General Hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital and the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut facilities and a 43-mile route which adds the Glastonbury Wellness Center. A six-mile Walk/Run through Vernon is also available. An Evening of Fine Wines and Gourmet Cuisine19 |
