In an era where nursing shortages are reaching critical levels, this fundraising event was designed to raise money for scholarships which are given to current ECHN employees who wish to pursue becoming a nurse or advancing their nursing career. The event offers a 23-mile bicycle course which connects Woodlake at Tolland, Rockville General Hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital and the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut facilities and a 43-mile route which adds the Glastonbury Wellness Center. A six-mile Walk/Run through Vernon is also available. An Evening of Fine Wines and Gourmet Cuisine19 he ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation offers several opportunities for volunteer service on committees in the areas of community engagement (both individual and corporate), planning and promoting events, oversight of our annual giving programs and promoting planned giving vehicles. For more information on these or other areas of service, please call us at 860.647.4753, or visit us online at www.echn.org/giving and click on the appropriate links in the navigation bar.Coffee CartThe Green Mountain Coffee Cart, located in the lobby of Manchester Memorial Hospital, is a project of the hospital volunteers. The program began early in 1998 at the suggestion of former ECHN President & CEO Barry Scheur. Mike Greenberg, the current director of Food Services, and Wayne Wiganowske, former Food Services Director, helped in the initial set-up of the service. They recruited volunteers to oversee the running of the carts. The proceeds of the coffee sales are donated each year to departments or programs within the hospital. The fiscal year 2011 proceeds, totaling $45,000, were donated to the following: The Meg Berté Owen Cancer Survivorship Fund ($29,000), Women's Center for Wellness ($10,000), Oncology Nurse Educator Fund ($3,000) and ECHN Breast & Cervical Cancer Program ($3,000). We are so grateful for these volunteers and their commitment to our community.Coffee Cart VolunteersCatherine ParentPaula BallsieperFlorence AlkasMaryJane HuntingtonCindy JarvisPeggy JohnsonAnn MongellPeter PhillipsPatricia PorterAmelia ReillyKarin TurekErin IngramMary WynnVolunteer CommitteesAnnual FundKathleen A.
